About Mealpace

  • Sourced specs
  • No prices or hype
  • Updated

Mealpace (slowfeederbowlpicks.com) is a small independent site about one problem: pets that eat too fast. The site was previously called Slow Feeder Bowl Picks; the address and the content are the same. We cover slow feeder bowls, slow feeder inserts, elevated feeders, puzzle feeders, lick mats and snuffle mats for dogs and cats, and we write plain-English guides on choosing and using them.

Who writes here

The site is written and maintained by the Mealpace Editorial Team, a small group of pet owners and researchers. We are not veterinarians, and we don't present our articles as veterinary advice. When a page touches on health (bloat, vomiting, choking, puppies, senior dogs), we link to the veterinary sources we relied on so you can check them yourself. If your pet has a medical issue, talk to your vet first.

What we do and don't do

  • We compare products using specifications published by the maker or an independent retailer, and each pick links the pages we used. Read how we choose for the details.
  • We do not claim to have lab-tested or hands-on tested products unless a page says exactly what we tested and how.
  • We do not publish prices. Prices on Amazon change often, so every product has a "Check price on Amazon" link instead.
  • We do not accept payment from brands for placement.

What we stand for

Our tagline is "Slower meals, straight answers." In practice that means six promises you can hold us to:

  1. Every spec has a source. Capacities, sizes and materials come from the maker or an independent retailer's spec sheet, and each pick links the page we used. If no source gives a figure, the table shows "—" and we say the maker doesn't publish it.
  2. We say who a pick is for. Every pick has a role ("Best for large dogs") and the reason it fits; where a bowl clearly suits some dogs badly, we say so.
  3. Limits are stated on the page. Where a maker's specs leave a gap or a design has a known trade-off, the pick carries a "Worth knowing" note, and each guide says what the evidence does not show.
  4. No prices, no hype. Prices change by the hour, so we send you to Amazon for the current one. We don't use "ultimate", "must-have" or countdown pressure, and we don't use fear to sell a bowl.
  5. You can check it yourself. The bowl finder publishes its scoring rules, and the eating speed timer lets you measure your own dog before and after.
  6. Articles show their date. Every article and list shows an "Updated" date at the top: the last time we reviewed it.

How the site makes money

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you buy through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See our affiliate disclosure.

Corrections policy

We would rather be corrected than wrong. If you find an error:

  • Tell us what and where. Email us via the contact page and give the page address, the claim and, if you have it, the source that shows it is wrong.
  • We check against the source. We re-read the maker's page, the retailer spec sheet or the study. If you're right, we fix it.
  • We fix it in place and change the date. The "Updated" date on the page moves to the day of the fix. For a material error (a safety point, a wrong size that would lead to a bad purchase), we add a short note at the top of the page saying what changed.
  • Discontinued or changed products are corrected or removed from the page. A pick never stays up because it earns a commission.
  • We don't alter what a source says to make a point, and we don't take payment to change or remove a correction.
